The quiet neighborhoods south of Oslo Road experienced a sudden disturbance earlier this week when a shooting incident led to the arrest of a local teenager. According to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, a 17-year-old boy was taken into custody following an exchange of gunfire that struck a nearby residence.
Authorities were dispatched to the 1100 block of 12th Court Southwest at approximately 7:30 p.m. on September 2. Dispatchers had received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the residential area. Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene and discovered several bullet casings scattered in the roadway. They also confirmed that a neighboring home had been struck by stray gunfire during the altercation.
A crucial break in the investigation came from community evidence. Surveillance footage from a home security camera captured the dangerous event, clearly showing two individuals actively shooting at each other in the middle of the street.
Following a swift investigation, law enforcement arrested the 17-year-old suspect early the next morning on September 3. He was subsequently transported to the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center located in Fort Pierce.
The juvenile faces several serious charges stemming from the incident, which include:
