Local high school sports fans have another opportunity to support their favorite student-athletes as the latest **Boys Athlete of the Week** poll is now open for the Treasure Coast region. Covering performances from January 12 through January 17, the list includes standout players from soccer, basketball, and wrestling, featuring a notable nomination for a Vero Beach senior.
Voting is currently underway and will remain open until **noon on Friday**. The community is encouraged to cast their ballots early and often to help determine the winner. The athlete who secures the most votes will receive a commemorative Athlete of the Week shirt provided by BSN Sports.
Vero Beach High School is represented in this week’s poll by senior forward **Brandon James**. James earned his spot on the ballot after a dominant week on the basketball court, where he averaged **19 points and 4.5 rebounds per game**, leading Vero Beach to a pair of victories.
This week’s poll, sponsored by Audi Stuart, features a competitive field of nominees from across Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin counties. In addition to Vero Beach’s James, the nominees include:
Chris Caballero (The Pine School) – Soccer: The junior forward was instrumental in three victories for the Knights, recording one goal and three assists.
Antonio DeLeon (Jensen Beach High School) – Soccer: A senior forward, DeLeon contributed two goals and one assist to help secure two wins for the Falcons.
Blake Elder (Jensen Beach High School) – Wrestling: The senior grappler was efficient and dominant, securing four pinfalls in a combined total of just 4 minutes and 36 seconds, aiding the Falcons in a sweep at the Scott Dyer Duals.
Jayden Prosper (St. Lucie West Centennial) – Basketball: This senior guard posted an impressive stat line across three games, averaging 21.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 3.3 steals.
Kaiden Seebarath (Tradition Prep) – Basketball: The junior wing helped lead the Pirates to two victories, averaging 16 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Avery Valentin (Fort Pierce Central) – Soccer: Valentin, a senior midfielder, tallied four goals and one assist as the Cobras secured three wins.
Leonard Wilder (Fort Pierce Central) – Wrestling: Competing at the 126-pound weight class, the sophomore recorded four pins, playing a key role in the Cobras’ sweep of the Destito Duals.
