The sands of Sebastian Inlet were bustling with competitive energy this past weekend as the 2026 Shore LB Throwdown concluded, crowning new champions in one of the region’s premier skimboarding events. Jackson Tenney and Nicole Phillips emerged victorious in the Pro Men and Pro Women divisions, respectively, navigating windy conditions and 1- to 3-foot waves at the renowned State Park.
The event, a staple for local watersports enthusiasts, drew significant attention with 120 entries from 96 competitors. Riders traveled from across the United States—including Alabama, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and the Carolinas—as well as international competitors from Mexico, to test their skills on the Treasure Coast.
Jackson Tenney, hailing from Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, dominated the Pro Men’s final. He secured the event’s highest single-heat score of 23.17 points, besting Mason Broussard of Gulf Shores, Alabama. The victory held deep personal significance for Tenney, who regards the Inlet as a pivotal location in his career.
“I don’t think there’s another single beach I have traveled to skim and surf more than Sebastian. It’s always been a special place and a special wave for me. My childhood self would be very stoked. I’ve always wanted to win any contest three times. I couldn’t have picked a better place.”
On the women’s side, Nicole Phillips of Apollo Beach, Florida, took top honors in the Pro Women division, finishing ahead of Sydney Pizza from Dewey Beach, Delaware. Phillips attributed her success to a rigorous training regimen focused on physical health and mental clarity, noting that her hard work had finally paid off.
The competition also highlighted up-and-coming talent in the Semi-Professional division. Winner Eric Sheckells announced his commitment to turning pro following his first-place finish, marking a major milestone in his athletic journey since starting the sport at age seven. Notable entrants also included the 2025 Skim USA champion Gerardo Valencia and Elian Juarez, both from Mexico.
The event was presented by Shore LB in partnership with Skim USA, a nonprofit dedicated to youth participation, competitive excellence, and environmental stewardship in the sport.
