The Heritage Center, a cornerstone of culture in historic downtown Vero Beach, has announced a vibrant schedule of events for March 2026. Located at 2140 14th Avenue, the venue is set to host a diverse array of activities ranging from historical education and community dances to live musical performances and literary showcases.
Residents and visitors of Indian River County are invited to participate in four major events designed to appeal to history buffs, music lovers, and families alike.
Downtown History Walk
The month’s programming begins on March 11 with an immersive history walk through downtown Vero Beach. This guided tour offers attendees a chance to learn about the architectural and cultural evolution of the area. The tour is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Heritage Center and will last approximately one hour.
Participation requires a $20 donation, with all proceeds directly benefiting Vero Heritage’s mission to preserve the history of Indian River County. Reservations are required for this event.
Audrey’s Feed & Tack Barn Dance
On March 16, the Heritage Center transforms into a dance hall for Audrey’s Feed & Tack Barn Dance. The event kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and promises an energetic evening for all age groups.
The evening will feature live music by the Sandy Feet Bluegrass Pickers, accompanied by a mix of Contra, Square, and Line dancing.
Admission is priced to be family-friendly: $10 for adults and only $1 for children under the age of 12. Refreshments will be available for purchase on-site. For specific information regarding the dance, attendees can contact Mary Rose-Weston at 317-445-9941.
Mountain Highway Bluegrass Event
Continuing the musical theme, the Heritage Center’s monthly Bluegrass Event takes place on March 18. This month, the stage will be commanded by the band Mountain Highway, known for their power-house picking and tight three-part harmonies.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. While general entry is free, attendees wishing to secure specific seating can do so for $20. The evening will also feature a cash bar and a 50/50 raffle to benefit OMS.
Downtown Friday and Author Showcase
The month concludes with the popular Downtown Friday marketplace on March 27. Beginning at 5:00 p.m., the event will feature a special appearance by Vero Beach native and author Sue Holbrook.
Holbrook will be signing and selling her latest book, Piecing Together Peace: Finding Faith’s Calm in a Frantic World. Drawing from her life growing up and working in Indian River County, Holbrook’s work shares faith-based essays and anecdotes. This appearance coincides with the regular vendor marketplace, which highlights home-grown foods, meats, and local crafts.
