Vero Beach’s vibrant dining landscape may soon see a notable shift along the bustling 20th Street corridor. According to development documents submitted to Indian River County this past February, the popular daytime cafe First Watch has proposed plans to open a new restaurant that would replace the existing Bob Evans.

Located at 6070 20th Street, this specific property holds a unique status as the only Bob Evans location serving the entire Treasure Coast region. While the submitted site plans indicate a transition, spokespeople for both restaurant chains have currently declined to comment on whether the diner will officially close its doors to accommodate the new development.

First Watch has officially submitted plans to Indian River County to take over the 6070 20th Street property, potentially replacing the Treasure Coast’s sole Bob Evans restaurant.

If county officials approve the proposed plans, this new establishment will significantly expand the footprint of First Watch within the local community. It will mark the brand’s second location in Vero Beach and its fourth across the wider Treasure Coast.

For breakfast and brunch enthusiasts eager to enjoy their menu in the meantime, First Watch currently operates three other regional locations:

  • 500 21st Street, Vero Beach
  • 1493 St. Lucie West Boulevard, Port St. Lucie
  • 2125 S.E. Federal Highway, Stuart

As Vero Beach continues to grow, shifts in local commercial real estate and dining options reflect the dynamic nature of our community. Local residents and frequent visitors will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on Indian River County’s planning department for the final approval of this proposed restaurant transition.
