The Treasure Coast high school football landscape is seeing significant coaching shifts this summer, with a notable addition coming to the sidelines at Vero Beach High School. Jacob Turay, who recently stepped down as the head football coach at St. Lucie West Centennial High School, will be joining the Vero Beach program as its new special teams coordinator.
Turay resigned from his post at Centennial on June 15 after leading the Eagles for three seasons. During his tenure as head coach, he compiled a 10-21 overall record, though the program saw steady year-over-year improvement. Following a challenging 1-9 season in 2023, Turay guided the Eagles to a 5-6 record last year, successfully earning a playoff berth in the 4A-7A Florida Invitational Tournament. Prior to his promotion to head coach, he served as Centennial’s co-offensive coordinator and special teams coordinator during the 2022 season.
This move brings experienced local talent to the Vero Beach coaching staff ahead of the upcoming season. Turay’s departure from Centennial marks the sixth head coaching vacancy among Treasure Coast area football teams since the conclusion of the 2025 season. Other local programs undergoing head coaching changes include:

Meanwhile, St. Lucie West Centennial is actively interviewing candidates from a strong applicant pool to fill its head coaching vacancy. The transition comes directly in the middle of summer conditioning, but school athletic officials report steadfast local backing.
