Because these are non-partisan races, all registered county voters have the opportunity to cast their ballots, regardless of their political affiliation or specific residential zone, though candidates are required to live in the district they wish to represent.
This year’s District 2 election features a highly competitive matchup between a two-term incumbent and a political newcomer with strong educational ties. The dynamic of the race is shaped by differing levels of community and board support. Newcomer Tom Lange entered the race with the backing of three sitting School Board members and numerous local educators. Conversely, incumbent Jacqueline Rosario, who has often found herself voting in the minority on the dais, garnered strong support from district critics and the former Indian River County chapter of Moms for Liberty.

Thomas Lange
At 43 years old, Lange brings his experience as a former English and history teacher at Sebastian River High School. He currently works in the private sector as a teacher success manager, helping school districts integrate technology curriculum. His top campaign priorities include:

Jacqueline Rosario
Rosario, 56, has served on the Indian River County School Board since 2018. Drawing on her extensive background as a former teacher and administrator, she has focused on policy structures and student preparedness. Her primary goals include:

- Establishing clear guidelines for student data privacy, ethical use, bias mitigation, and academic honesty

Broader School Board Changes
While the District 2 race remained fiercely contested, other board seats saw a much quieter election cycle.
