On the evening of Saturday, August 8, sixteen-year-old Roylynn Scott, a student at Vero Beach High School, was critically injured after falling at the River Preserve. This site is an abandoned four-story condominium complex located at 9846 Riverside Preserve Drive, situated near the Indian River Lagoon.
According to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and fire rescue personnel responded to a 911 call reporting the fall. First responders arrived to find the critically injured teenager on the second floor of the concrete structure, accompanied by a group of other juveniles.
Investigators determined that the group had been trespassing on the property. While on the roof, the teen tragically fell through a hole, dropping approximately 29 feet to the concrete floor below.
