As the vibrant community of Vero Beach continues to flourish, so do the opportunities for convenient travel, both domestically and internationally. Exciting developments are on the horizon for air travel across the Treasure Coast, with significant expansions planned for our own Vero Beach Regional Airport and promising new services for the broader region.

For over two years, Vero Beach residents have enjoyed the ease and affordability of Breeze Airways, connecting our beautiful city to eight diverse destinations. This service has been a testament to the growing demand for local air travel, offering a streamlined experience without the hustle and bustle of larger metropolitan airports.

The good news doesn’t stop there. The upcoming months will usher in even more choices for travelers departing from Vero Beach. Beginning in December, JetBlue is set to launch two brand new flight routes from Vero Beach Regional Airport, further enhancing our connectivity. Following closely, American Airlines will commence its own services from our local airport starting in February. These additions signify a robust expansion of our direct travel options, making weekend getaways or visits from distant loved ones even more accessible.

“The addition of JetBlue and American Airlines to Vero Beach Regional Airport’s roster is a game-changer for our community, offering unparalleled convenience and new avenues for both business and leisure travel right from our doorstep.”

Looking beyond Vero Beach, the entire Treasure Coast region is poised for a significant uplift in air travel choices. In the coming weeks, major announcements are anticipated regarding new passenger airline services at Treasure Coast International Airport, located just north of Fort Pierce. This county-owned facility is set to become the second airport serving passengers in our region, complementing the fantastic offerings already available in Vero Beach.

According to St. Lucie County Commissioner Cathy Townsend, two airlines are proposed for Treasure Coast International Airport. One is expected to offer at least weekly flights “to the Northeast,” providing a vital link to major metropolitan areas. The second proposed airline will likely facilitate travel “to and from the Bahamas,” opening up exciting new international possibilities for local adventurers seeking island escapes.

This regional growth in air travel is a clear indicator of the Treasure Coast’s increasing prominence as a desirable place to live, work, and visit. For Vero Beach residents, this means:

  • Increased Convenience: More direct flight options from Vero Beach Regional Airport save time and reduce stress.
  • Greater Accessibility: New carriers like JetBlue and American Airlines broaden the scope of destinations available.
  • Regional Synergy: The growth of Treasure Coast International Airport provides even more choices for those willing to travel a short distance, enhancing overall regional connectivity.
  • Economic Boost: Expanded air travel fuels local tourism, supports businesses, and creates jobs throughout Indian River County and the wider Treasure Coast.

Whether you’re planning a trip to the bustling Northeast, a sun-drenched Bahamian getaway, or simply seeking a more convenient way for family and friends to visit Vero Beach, the future of air travel on the Treasure Coast is looking exceptionally bright. Stay tuned for more updates as these exciting developments unfold, bringing the world closer to our beloved Vero Beach.
