Following a successful inaugural year that raised over $13,000 for domestic violence survivors, a major community fundraiser is set to return to Indian River County. SafeSpace, the Treasure Coast’s only state-certified domestic violence center, has announced a renewed partnership with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office to host the Second Annual Aim for Freedom Sporting Clays Shoot.
Scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, the event will take place at the Indian River County Shooting Range in Sebastian. Organizers are aiming to surpass last year’s contributions, bringing together residents, local business leaders, and law enforcement officers for a day of friendly competition and community impact.
The event is designed to be accessible to participants of all experience levels, from seasoned marksmen to novices looking to support a worthy cause. Beyond the clay shoot competition, attendees can expect a high-energy atmosphere featuring breakfast, raffle items, and an awards ceremony for the top shooters.
Proceeds from the fundraiser are critical for SafeSpace, which provides emergency shelter, legal advocacy, and counseling services to victims of domestic violence and their children across the Treasure Coast. To date, the organization has provided over 500,000 safe nights of shelter to more than 40,000 individuals.
Aimee Cooper, Chief Financial Officer for the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, emphasized the deeper meaning behind the competition:
“Aim for Freedom is about more than hitting targets. It’s about standing with survivors and showing them they are not alone. The response to this event has been incredibly encouraging, and we’re excited to welcome the community back for another impactful day in 2026.”
Event Logistics and Registration
Registration is currently open for both individuals and teams. The schedule for the day is as follows:
Due to limited space at the range, early registration is highly encouraged. Those interested in signing up or exploring sponsorship opportunities can do so by visiting SafeSpaceFl.org.
Community Support
The event has already garnered significant support from the local business community. SafeSpace has acknowledged a robust list of 2026 sponsors whose contributions ensure that funds raised go directly toward life-saving services. Notable local sponsors include Toyota of Vero, Hayes Construction, Piper Aircraft, Coastal Protective Products, and Jimmy’s A/C & Refrigeration, among others.
By participating in the Aim for Freedom event, the Indian River County community helps ensure that SafeSpace can continue its mission to save lives and prevent domestic violence through intervention, education, and advocacy.
