Grocery shoppers in Vero Beach have a new destination to mark on their calendars this month. Aldi is officially opening its newest location in Indian River County, taking over the space previously occupied by Winn-Dixie at 2950 Ninth St. S.W.
The popular discount supermarket chain has confirmed that the new store will host its grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 19. This location is part of a broader expansion on the Treasure Coast following Aldi’s acquisition of Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets.
The grand opening ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on March 19, with the store opening to shoppers immediately after the approximately 30-minute ceremony.
For those eager to check out the aisles before the official crowds arrive, Aldi is offering a “sneak peek” opportunity. Customers can fully shop the store starting on March 18, the day prior to the ribbon cutting.
Grand Opening Perks and Giveaways
To celebrate the launch, Aldi has announced several incentives for early risers attending the March 19 event:
Winn-Dixie Conversions Continue
This opening marks a significant shift in the local grocery landscape. The transition comes after a deal finalized in 2024, where Aldi acquired Southeastern Grocers with plans to convert nearly 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys locations. While some stores remain under the Winn-Dixie banner, many across Florida are being remodeled into the Aldi format.
Residents in the wider Indian River County area can expect more changes soon. In addition to the new Vero Beach location, a conversion is underway in Sebastian at 995 Sebastian Blvd., which is slated to open in early 2026.
Currently, there are nine existing Aldi locations serving the Treasure Coast, including stores in Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie, Jensen Beach, and Stuart. With the new Ninth Street Southwest location, Vero Beach residents will now have even more convenient access to the brand’s low-price grocery model.
