Burrito lovers on the Treasure Coast have a new reason to celebrate. Chipotle Mexican Grill is officially expanding its footprint in our region with a new location currently under construction in Fort Pierce. This development highlights the continued commercial growth occurring just south of Vero Beach along the U.S. 1 corridor.
The new restaurant will be located at 2039 S. U.S. 1 within the Gateway Plaza. For those familiar with the area, the site is situated directly next to the existing Starbucks, making this plaza a future go-to spot for quick, casual dining and coffee. This location is particularly convenient for commuters and residents traveling between southern Indian River County and St. Lucie County.
While excitement is high, the doors aren’t open just yet. Observations from the site indicate that work is progressing, but the company has not yet announced an official timeline.
Construction was ongoing as of March 5, but no additional information about when it will open was immediately available.
This upcoming site will mark the second Chipotle location in Fort Pierce. The city’s first location opened fairly recently, welcoming customers in September 2023 at 5545 Okeechobee Road. The rapid addition of a second storefront suggests strong demand for the fast-casual chain in the immediate area.
For our readers here in Vero Beach, the most convenient location remains the bustling store at 5855 20th Street (State Road 60). However, the expansion in neighboring communities is a positive indicator for the economic health of the wider Treasure Coast.
