Motorists traveling northbound through the Treasure Coast this Saturday should prepare for delays following a significant truck crash on Florida’s Turnpike near Fort Pierce.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:22 a.m. just before Mile Marker 165 in St. Lucie County. The crash, which involved a truck, has resulted in a substantial traffic bottleneck for drivers heading north toward Indian River County.
According to data provided by FL511, the right lane is currently blocked, forcing traffic into a single lane and causing a standstill that extends for miles.
Traffic remains backed up to Mile Marker 163 due to the right lane being blocked, creating a two-mile traffic jam in the area.
Local officials are urging motorists to seek alternative routes to avoid the congestion. Drivers currently on the roadway should exercise extreme caution as emergency crews work to clear the scene. The impact on northbound travel suggests that those commuting from Fort Pierce to Vero Beach should expect longer than usual travel times.
