The Fort Pierce Police Department is actively investigating a startling incident that unfolded on Monday evening at a local dining establishment. Fortunately, despite gunfire striking the building, authorities have confirmed that no injuries were reported. For residents across the Treasure Coast, this serves as a critical update regarding local law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to secure our business corridors.

Officers responded to Sugar and Spice Restaurant at 2515 Okeechobee Road around 8 p.m. after reports of gunshots in the area, discovering multiple areas of bullet damage throughout the business.

When investigators arrived on the scene, they processed the exterior and interior, recovering at least one lodged projectile from the structure. At the time of the incident, approximately five individuals were inside the restaurant. In a stroke of immense luck, all patrons and staff escaped completely unharmed.

The investigation has already uncovered a potential motive. According to local police, the owner of the restaurant received threatening text messages shortly before the shots rang out. These messages reportedly stemmed from an ongoing financial dispute. Detectives strongly believe these digital threats are directly connected to the targeted property damage.

The investigation remains open, and the Fort Pierce Police Department is turning to the wider Treasure Coast community for assistance in finding those responsible.
