From enchanting botanical gardens to spirited downtown celebrations, the area promises a month packed with warmth and holiday cheer, kicking off in early December.
The festivities begin on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, with the launch of the Jungle Lights Holiday event at McKee Botanical Garden in Vero Beach. Running through December 30 and again January 2-3, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, this unique event will transform the garden into a glowing rainforest wonderland. Imagine LED lights illuminating jungle trails, immersive themes from South American countries, and vibrant soundscapes featuring exotic animals. Highlights include a 12-foot Rudolph in The Great Reindeer Hall, a large-scale model train show on select dates, live entertainment, and Santa visits from December 17-22. It’s a truly family-friendly experience that captures the magic of the season in an extraordinary setting.
Following closely, the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Light Up Night on Friday, December 5, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This beloved tradition sees local businesses throughout Sebastian and its surrounding areas staying open late, adorned with dazzling decorations. Attendees can look forward to special sales, door prizes, complimentary refreshments, and engaging family activities, fostering a strong sense of community spirit.
The weekend of December 6-7 brings a flurry of cherished parade traditions:
- On Saturday, December 6, at 6:00 pm, the Vero Beach Christmas Parade, presented by Sunrise Rotary of Vero Beach, will illuminate Ocean Drive. Expect an evening of seasonal entertainment and beautifully lit displays. A special pre-show with Santa on the red carpet starts at 4:00 pm, and a complimentary Holiday Photo Booth will be available. To ease parking, a convenient shuttle service will operate between Riverside Park and Ocean Drive.
- Also on Saturday, December 6, at 6:30 pm, the City of Sebastian Annual Christmas Parade will proceed south on Indian River Drive, from Main Street to Riverview Park. The parade culminates with Santa meeting attendees and the official lighting of the city’s Christmas tree, a highlight for many.
- On Sunday, December 7, at 5:30 pm, the Barefoot Bay Christmas Parade will march along Barefoot Blvd, starting at the golf course and ending at Building A. A festive lighting ceremony at the Community Center will follow the parade, promising holiday cheer, music, and fun for all ages.
As the month progresses, more diverse events dot the Indian River County calendar. The Sebastian River High School will present its annual Prism Concert from December 11th to 14th in the school auditorium. This highly anticipated musical showcase, a community tradition for over 30 years, features non-stop performances by the school’s concert bands, jazz band, choirs, soloists, and dance line.

- S’mores by the fire and pizza/hot chocolate for purchase.
- Lit-up nature play scape and open aquariums.
- Eco-friendly holiday shopping at the Nature Nook boutique.
- A special performance by the City of Vero Beach Recreation Department Aerial Antics on Friday, December 12.
Further enriching the holiday schedule, the 5th Annual Holiday Market at Digg Market in Vero Beach is set for Saturday, December 13, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, featuring local artisans, live music, and refreshments. On Sunday, December 14, Roseland Global Methodist Church invites families to its free Christmas Family Movie Make-N-Take from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm, including a screening of “The Star,” ornament making, and carols. Finally, the festive season wouldn’t be complete without some playful irreverence: Mash Monkeys Brewing Company in Sebastian will host its 6th Annual Ugly Sweater Party on December 20, from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm, promising special beer releases, food trucks, and live music by the Thomas Bowman Band.
