Among these honors was an Award of Merit—a distinction reserved for exceptional species and hybrids scoring between 80 and 89 on a 100-point scale—awarded to the Garden’s Cattleya measuresiana.
This specific flower, a stunning hybrid of Cattleya aclandiae and Cattleya walkeriana, was officially bestowed the clonal name ‘McKee Botanical Garden’ in recognition of the institution’s outstanding cultivation efforts. Three additional accolades, including two more Awards of Merit and a Highly Commended Certificate, quickly followed in July.
