The Treasure Coast culinary scene is set to welcome a unique new dining concept in Port St. Lucie. Port Tradition, a “Mexiterranean” fusion restaurant, is preparing to open its doors at The Shoppes at the Heart plaza. The new establishment aims to blend the distinct flavors of Mexican and Mediterranean cuisines into a healthy, flavorful menu that bridges two rich culinary cultures.

Argentine chef and owner Pablo Bouquet describes the concept as a deliberate mix of styles, focusing on high-quality ingredients. According to Bouquet, the goal is to create lighter, healthier versions of traditional favorites, joking that the kitchen will swap grease for olive oil. Bouquet is launching this venture alongside his partners and longtime friends, brothers Luis and Eduardo Rodriguez, who hail from Mexico.

Port Tradition will feature a diverse menu including fusion flatbreads cooked in a brick oven, al pastor tacos, grilled lamb, and salmon tacos topped with Mediterranean sauce.

The restaurant plans to offer a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, complete with an indoor garden and a full bar. Patrons will be able to enjoy views of the iconic 100-foot heart-shaped sculpture by artist JEFRË, located within walking distance of the venue. The interior design emphasizes this connection to the outdoors, creating a scenic backdrop for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

Port Tradition is also focusing on accessibility for wine lovers. The restaurant intends to import wines from Europe and South America, offering bottles for purchase at a price point capped at $25, regardless of the region of origin.

Chef Bouquet is a familiar face in the local restaurant industry. He currently owns Tapas Terra in Palm City and previously owned Port Barna in Jensen Beach. His passion for Spanish cuisine developed during his travels through Spain in his early twenties, a background that heavily influences his current culinary approach.

Residents across the Treasure Coast can look forward to trying dishes such as Moroccan salad with jalapeños, fresh tortillas, empanadas, and a variety of Mexican and Spanish cheeses.
