A major breakthrough has unfolded in a significant financial fraud case impacting residents across the Treasure Coast. Following an intensive investigation by local authorities, a South Florida property manager accused of siphoning thousands of dollars from Martin County homeowners’ associations is now behind bars.

Alexandra Delacaridad Gonzalez, a 46-year-old resident of Miramar, surrendered to authorities during the early hours of April 9. She was booked into the Martin County Jail shortly after 2:00 a.m. and is currently being held without bail.

The arrest stems from a sweeping warrant encompassing a staggering 124 criminal charges. According to officials from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the charges reflect a systematic breach of trust against the local communities she was hired to manage.

The specific charges levied against Gonzalez include:

  • Two counts of fraud exceeding $50,000
  • Two counts of grand theft
  • 61 counts of uttering false instruments
  • 59 counts of embezzlement
  • Investigators uncovered that Gonzalez systematically diverted community funds into her own pockets, masking the extensive theft through a web of fictitious invoices, false ledger entries, and forged signatures of authorized HOA account holders.

The scale of the embezzlement came to light when at least two local associations—Whitemarsh Reserve Homeowners Association and The Dunes of Hutchinson Island—detected serious financial irregularities and promptly reported their suspicions to local law enforcement. Subpoenaed financial records subsequently painted a clear picture of how the stolen community funds were utilized.

Instead of maintaining local properties and funding neighborhood reserves, the embezzled money was reportedly funneled into Gonzalez’s personal lifestyle. Authorities noted that the illicit funds paid for extravagant personal expenses, including lavish vacations, shopping sprees, and plastic surgery.

This incident serves as a crucial reminder for Treasure Coast community boards and property owners to maintain stringent oversight of HOA financials and property management operations. Routine audits, transparent accounting, and dual-signature requirements remain vital safeguards to protect community assets from fraudulent schemes.

Gonzalez remains in custody at the Martin County Jail as she awaits further legal proceedings regarding the extensive financial crimes.
