Patrons of one of Vero Beach’s most beloved fine dining establishments will need to adjust their summer dinner plans, as The Tides prepares for a major transition. The popular local restaurant has announced it will temporarily close its reservation book for the month of June as ownership finalizes preparations for a highly anticipated move from Central Beach to South Beach.
Opened on April 4, 2000, The Tides has seen its loyal clientele expand dramatically over the last two decades. Currently accommodating 175 to 200 guests on an average night and up to 250 during the peak Indian River County tourist season, the original 75-year-old building at 3103 Cardinal Drive is no longer optimal for the restaurant’s high volume. To solve this, owner Leanne Kelleher has coordinated a multi-phase relocation plan.
According to Kelleher, the reservation book will remain closed throughout June to prevent any scheduling confusion while the team prepares to shift operations to a newly built space inside the Turtle Cove office building on A1A in South Beach. The pause is designed to guarantee a seamless transition for guests without uncertainty regarding operating dates or exact locations during the final stages of the transition.
The impending relocation marks a significant milestone for The Tides, representing a reimagined and elevated space for the restaurant’s next chapter while actively ensuring patrons receive the seamless, high-quality experience they have come to expect.
The move to South Beach is only a temporary arrangement. Vero Beach developer Anthony DeChellis, who owns the block on Cardinal Drive between Camelia and Bougainvillea lanes, plans to demolish the existing structures to construct a brand-new, 6,000-square-foot restaurant space. DeChellis is also the developer behind the new Turtle Cove building where The Tides will temporarily operate.
Once the new Cardinal Drive facility is completed, The Tides will return to its original neighborhood. Kelleher has confirmed that while the menu will be refreshed, the core concept will remain exactly the same: a premium, fine-dining destination featuring local seafood and fresh local produce. Furthermore, after The Tides returns to Central Beach, Kelleher plans to launch an entirely new restaurant concept and market in the vacated South Beach location.
For Treasure Coast locals and visitors eager to track the restaurant’s progress, management will continue to post updates across their social media platforms. Here are the essential details regarding the upcoming relocation:
- Temporary New Location: 714 Turtle Cove Lane. The new spot is located just south of the 17th Street Bridge, directly behind Johnny D’s Market & Bistro and near the South Beach 7-Eleven.
- Original Location: Relocating from 3103 Cardinal Drive in Central Beach.
- Move Timeline: The physical move is slated for Spring 2026.
- Operating Hours: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
- Contact Information: Guests can reach the restaurant for future inquiries at (772) 234-3966.
As The Tides embarks on this exciting evolution, Vero Beach diners can look forward to the same high-quality culinary experience they have cherished for over twenty years, soon to be housed in beautifully upgraded facilities.
