Island Pig & Fish Relocates to Tradition, Expanding Culinary Options on the Treasure Coast
The Treasure Coast dining landscape has seen a significant shift as the popular seafood and barbecue establishment, Island Pig & Fish, has officially relocated. After three years of serving the community in Fort Pierce, the restaurant has closed its location at the Harbour Cay plaza and moved to the Tradition neighborhood in Port St. Lucie.
According to announcements made on the restaurant’s social media channels, the new Port St. Lucie venue opened its doors on January 12. The new space is situated in the Shoppes at the Heart plaza at 10148 S.W. Discovery Way, located near the “Heart in the Park” sculpture.
The relocation marks a new chapter for the restaurant, with ownership describing the new Tradition space as “stunning, welcoming and ready to serve not only PSL, but guests from all across the Treasure Coast.”
A Farewell to Fort Pierce
The former location at 835 Seaway Drive on South Beach in Fort Pierce closed following a final announcement on December 30. The restaurant’s management expressed deep gratitude to the Fort Pierce community for supporting the business since its inception.
“Fort Pierce, thank you for three unforgettable years. This community embraced Island Pig & Fish from day one, and we’re deeply grateful for every guest, every meal shared, and every memory made,” the restaurant stated.
However, the departure from the original site does not mean the brand is leaving Fort Pierce entirely. The team teased future developments for their presence in the area. Plans are reportedly underway to merge the “best of Island Pig & Fish” with Island Burger & Shake at their Fort Pierce Jetty location. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned for new menu additions resulting from this combination.
Elevated Southern Barbecue Meets Florida Seafood
Owner-operators Taylor Shull and Chef Dean Dupuis have built a reputation for combining Southern barbecue traditions with fresh Florida seafood. Shull has previously described the concept as a casual environment with elevated cuisine, emphasizing the care put into every dish.
The menu is known for unique offerings that distinguish it from standard seafood fare. Highlights include:
A History of Culinary Partnership
The collaboration between Shull and Dupuis spans over a decade. The two first worked together in 2012 when Shull, then a partner in the RW Restaurant Group, hired Dupuis to open the Mussel Bar & Grille in Atlantic City. Their professional relationship continued in Washington, D.C., and eventually led to their reunion in Florida.
Shull, who moved to Hutchinson Island after selling his interests in his previous partnership in 2017, insisted on partnering with Dupuis for his Florida ventures. In addition to Island Pig & Fish, Shull also owns Hutchinson Island Bar & Grille and Island Burger & Shake on Fort Pierce’s South Beach.
The move to Tradition places Island Pig & Fish in a rapidly growing commercial hub, offering their distinctive “pig and fish” concept to a broader audience in Port St. Lucie while maintaining strong ties to their roots in the region.
