From Vero Beach down to Port St. Lucie and Jensen Beach, local foodies have an abundance of new establishments to explore, alongside a few notable farewells and exciting reinventions.
The Treasure Coast dining landscape recently welcomed 11 new restaurant openings, while seeing three closures, five highly anticipated upcoming spots, and two complete revitalizations of classic local staples.
Vero Beach Updates: Deli Openings and Pub Transitions
Indian River County residents have some major updates to their local dining and entertainment options. Those looking for a hearty breakfast or lunch can now visit a brand-new Connecticut-style deli located near the Vero Beach airport. The eatery serves up an array of hot and cold specialty sandwiches, loaded omelets, burgers, cheesesteaks, soups, and fresh salads.
Meanwhile, downtown Vero Beach is seeing a changing of the guard. A beloved Irish pub that served the community for nearly a decade permanently closed its doors on August 18. However, the prime location is not staying empty for long. The space is being completely revitalized into a brand-new sports bar featuring more than 20 televisions, which officially opened on August 29. Patrons of the former pub will be happy to know the new sports bar plans to keep a few reminders of its Irish predecessor around the venue.

The broader Treasure Coast region has seen a flurry of ribbon cuttings, with Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, and Jensen Beach welcoming a diverse lineup of new eateries. Recent grand openings include:
- Massive Buffet Concepts: Port St. Lucie is now home to an expansive new all-you-can-eat buffet boasting over 200 items. The massive spread features everything from sushi and hibachi to fresh seafood, meats, vegetables, and a self-serve ice cream station.
- Asian & Fusion Dining: Jensen Beach has welcomed a new all-you-can-eat sushi and hot pot destination featuring dedicated vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. In Port St. Lucie, diners can also explore a new Japanese and Thai fusion restaurant serving up everything from fresh sashimi to Thai curry and basil rice.
- Mediterranean Meets Latin: A unique “Mexiterranean” fusion restaurant has opened its doors in Port St. Lucie, blending Mexican staples with Mediterranean ingredients to offer Greek, Spanish, and Mexican flair. - Waterfront & Casual Bites: Fort Pierce foodies can now enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner with sweeping views of the Indian River Lagoon at a newly opened waterfront cafe. Meanwhile, Port St. Lucie welcomed a specialty hot dog and burger joint featuring decadent black truffle lobster quesadillas, loaded fries, and crab cakes.
- Healthy Living: A popular Palm Beach County-based health-food chain has officially expanded into Port St. Lucie, marking its first Treasure Coast location.
Closures and Upcoming Reinventions
As new doors open, a few local staples have announced closures. A popular Panera Bread location in Palm City permanently closed its doors in early August. Farther north in Jensen Beach, an acclaimed 40-year-old fine dining hidden gem will see its founding chef-owner retire, with final dinner service slated for September 19. Fortunately, the iconic romantic restaurant is not gone for good; it will reopen on October 8 under the same name with new owners and a completely reimagined fine-dining menu.
Looking ahead, the region is gearing up for even more culinary additions. Palm City is eagerly awaiting a modern Asian concept run by Italian restaurateurs, promising an elevated spin on classic Chinese-American takeout dishes paired with craft cocktails. Port St. Lucie is also preparing for a Latin-inspired build-your-own pasta and coffee lounge, offering customizable bowls with gluten-free and zucchini noodle options, as well as the opening of a second Treasure Coast location for the newly arrived Palm Beach health-food chain.
