The United Way of Indian River County recently celebrated a major milestone, hosting the 40th annual Citrus Golf Tournament at the scenic Vero Beach Country Club. The historic charitable event experienced unprecedented local support this year, welcoming a record-breaking 25 foursomes for a day dedicated to golf, community connection, and philanthropy.
The 40th annual Citrus Golf Tournament brought together a record 25 teams at the Vero Beach Country Club, raising essential funds to bolster health, education, and financial stability programs throughout Indian River County.
Players were treated to beautiful Florida weather as they navigated the course, driving goodwill and raising critical capital for local initiatives. The funds generated from this long-standing tournament directly sustain the United Way of Indian River County’s mission to uplift residents by investing in robust community partnerships and strategic neighborhood programs.
Meredith Egan, the Chief Executive Officer of the United Way of Indian River County, highlighted the community’s dedication to the cause. “This year’s tournament was incredibly special,” Egan noted. “Celebrating 40 years of this tradition alongside so many generous sponsors, volunteers, and community members was truly meaningful. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make the day a success.”
The tournament followed a competitive scramble format, concluding with an awards celebration and a post-event luncheon. During the reception, several players were recognized for their exceptional skills on the green. Special contest winners included:
- Leighanne Thompson: Women’s Closest to the Pin and Women’s Longest Drive
- Ray Hengerer: Men’s Closest to the Pin
- Vinny Keeler: Men’s Longest Drive
