Pianist Tom Servinsky and vocalist Lisa McCallister will take the stage to present Selections from the “Great American Songbook,” promising a foot-tapping, hand-clapping experience that echoes the true creative spirit of America.

The “Great American Songbook” serves as the musical canon of some of the most influential American jazz standards and popular songs. Often referred to as “American Standards,” this beloved genre encompasses timeless tunes spanning from the 1920s through the 1960s, featuring iconic music originally composed for Broadway stages, musical theatre, and Hollywood films.

America has always found its voice in song. The ‘Great American Songbook’ lives on because its melodies and stories continue to echo across generations, proving that a truly great song never grows old.

The patriotic performance, beautifully summarized by VBMA Public Programs Manager Pam Londono in the quote above, perfectly complements the museum’s current nationally touring exhibition, American Made: Paintings and Sculpture from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection. This expansive exhibition traces the fascinating arc of American art from the colonial era through modern times and will remain on view at the VBMA until June 7, 2026.

As an added bonus for attendees, admission to the museum galleries is included with the purchase of a concert ticket. This thoughtful inclusion provides an excellent opportunity for guests to fully immerse themselves in both the visual and auditory history of American art on the same visit.
