A Vero Beach-based construction company CEO has surrendered to authorities in connection with the alleged theft of an $80,000 compressor in Miami Beach. Peter Scott Parker, 65, who leads the American Building Group, a construction company headquartered in Vero Beach, turned himself in on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, to face charges of grand theft and criminal mischief.
The incident unfolded on December 5 when Miami Beach Police identified Parker’s truck as the vehicle seen departing with a large air compressor. The equipment was being used for concrete restoration at a condo building located at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 16th Street, a property reportedly owned by Parker.
Anthony Son, the owner of Ti Con Building System, whose crews were responsible for the concrete restoration, reported the compressor stolen early on Friday, December 6. The valuable machinery was subsequently recovered that same afternoon at a residence in Virginia Gardens.
During a bond court hearing on Thursday, Parker’s attorney stated that the charges stem from an ongoing dispute.
“He has a home in Vero Beach, but he also has the local address here at that condo there,” the attorney explained in court. “This is an ongoing civil dispute with the association who keeps telling the construction company to park the equipment and trailers in his parking spot. And it goes back for several years, so it’s really a civil matter.”
Despite the claim of a civil dispute, Parker was formally charged with grand theft and criminal mischief. As of Thursday afternoon, Parker remained in custody, although he was not required to post bond. This case highlights a complex situation involving a prominent Vero Beach business figure and a significant alleged theft in South Florida. The legal proceedings are expected to continue as authorities address the accusations and the defense’s claims of a preceding civil disagreement.
