The Vero Beach Fighting Indians have officially added a massive matchup to their upcoming 2026 high school football schedule. In a highly anticipated contest, Vero Beach High School will host the nationally ranked St. Frances Academy Panthers from Baltimore, Maryland. The marquee game is set to take place on September 4, 2026, at the iconic Citrus Bowl in Vero Beach.

The Vero Beach Fighting Indians will face off against the Overtime Nationals champion St. Frances Academy Panthers on September 4, 2026, bringing one of the nation’s premier high school football programs to the local Citrus Bowl.

Coming off a tough defeat in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 7A state championship game this past December, Vero Beach is looking to test its mettle against elite national competition. The Fighting Indians will be anchored by their standout signal-caller, Champ Wonderful Monds. The four-star 2027 quarterback and Notre Dame commit had a spectacular previous season, completing 178 of 235 passes for 2,590 yards and an impressive 32 touchdowns. Monds returns as one of Florida’s top quarterbacks heading into his senior campaign.

The visiting Panthers are no strangers to elite competition or to traveling to the Sunshine State. St. Frances Academy recently finished their season with a 9-1 record, claiming the number two spot in the final Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings and securing an Overtime Nationals Championship victory against Corner Canyon. The Panthers have a proven track record of defeating Florida powerhouses, boasting past victories over top-tier programs like Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Clearwater Central Catholic, and Venice. Before heading to Indian River County, St. Frances is also slated to play Deland on August 28, 2026.

When the Panthers arrive in Vero Beach, they will bring a formidable defense anchored by top-tier edge rushers. The Fighting Indians’ offensive line will be tasked with holding back five-star Texas Tech commit Anthony Sweeney, along with highly touted prospects Jermaine Smith and Nebraska commit Jayden Travers.
