The Vero Beach Police Department has issued a community alert asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a seemingly unprovoked altercation at a popular local waterfront establishment earlier this month.
Authorities released surveillance images on Tuesday regarding a battery incident that took place at Riverside Cafe. The well-known eatery is located at 3341 Bridge Plaza Drive on the barrier island, situated just south of the Merrill P. Barber Bridge.
According to police reports, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of February 1. Surveillance footage from the venue captured the unidentified male suspect at approximately 1:10 a.m. Officers have stated that the attack appeared to be random and aggressive in nature.
“Surveillance video shows the suspect assaulting the victim multiple times without apparent provocation,” the Vero Beach Police Department said in a released statement.
While specific details regarding the extent of the victim’s injuries were not immediately available, police are treating the investigation as a battery case and are eager to locate the individual responsible.
