The Vero Beach community pauses to honor and remember the lives of several cherished residents who have recently passed away. We pay tribute to their contributions, their service to the nation, and the memories they leave behind with friends and family in Indian River County and beyond. Below are the obituaries for Richard Coe Ryan, Dominick S. Anderson, Michael J. Anderson, and Judith Mazzucca.

Richard Coe Ryan, 90

Richard “Dick” Coe Ryan, a resident of Vero Beach and formerly of Williamstown, New York, passed away on January 25, 2026. Born in Oswego, New York, in 1935, Mr. Ryan led a life defined by service and a connection to the outdoors. He earned a degree in Forestry from Paul Smith’s College before joining the United States Army Corps of Engineers. His military service took him to stations across the U.S. and Japan, including a deployment on the island of Okinawa where he met his first wife, Fujiko. Notably, during his service, he summited Mount Rainier in Washington state.

Following his military discharge, Mr. Ryan dedicated 35 years to New York State, working in land and marine surveys and public land acquisitions for the Department of Environmental Conservation and the Department of Transportation. He was a licensed land surveyor and real estate broker who later founded his own firm, RYAN’s COMPANY. A long-time seasonal resident, he had recently made Vero Beach his full-time home in October 2025. He is survived by his two sons, siblings, grandchildren, and his companion, Carolyn Moir. A committal service with military honors is scheduled for April 10, 2026, at Calverton National Cemetery in New York.

Michael J. Anderson, 86

Michael J. Anderson, formerly of Haverstraw, New York, passed away in Vero Beach on February 5, 2026, at the VNA Hospice House. Born in 1939, Mr. Anderson served as a Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Seawolf from 1957 to 1963. Following his naval service, he built a career in management with Consolidated Edison Utility.

Beyond his professional life, Mr. Anderson was a dedicated public servant, serving as a member of the West Haverstraw Fire Department for over 50 years, holding every rank from chauffeur to chief. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He is remembered by his daughter, Donna M. Anderson, and his two grandchildren. Services were held at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach, with interment with military honors planned for a later date in New York.

Judith “Judy” Mazzucca, 69

Judith “Judy” Mazzucca passed away on January 31, 2026. A resident of Vero Beach, she retired to the area to enjoy the coastal lifestyle after a dedicated 27-year career with Prudential. Known for her honesty and sharp wit, she was a lover of live music and fierce independence.

She was the friend who showed up, the one who offered help without being asked, and a steady presence for those she loved.

Judy is survived by her sons, David and Bill, her partner Vinny, and her grandchildren, Charlee and Cooper. She will be remembered for her generous heart and her love for the sun and peace of the Florida coast.

Arrangements for these residents are under the direction of Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory in Vero Beach.
