Vero Beach Educator Recognized on National Stage for Leadership and Compassion

The educational community in Indian River County is celebrating a significant accolade this week, as a prominent leader at Master’s Academy of Vero Beach has been nominated for a prestigious national award. Kimberly Gillette, the Upper School Dean at the academy, has been named a nominee for National Life Group’s 2025-26 LifeChanger of the Year award. This recognition highlights K-12 educators and school employees across the United States who make a profound difference in the lives of students through excellence, positive influence, and leadership.

A Legacy of Service and Innovation

Gillette’s nomination comes from within her own faculty, initiated by her colleague Nancy Cook. The nomination highlights Gillette’s exceptional integrity and the lasting impact she has made on both the staff and the student body. With over 13 years of experience as a classroom teacher, Gillette transitioned into school leadership with a distinct vision for fostering growth and innovation.

To better serve her school community, she pursued a Master’s degree, equipping herself with the tools to mentor teachers and guide curriculum development. Her colleagues describe her leadership style as steady and compassionate, credited with shaping a student-centered culture grounded in respect and encouragement.

More Than Just Academics

The nomination emphasizes that Gillette’s influence extends well beyond the classroom walls. She is noted for her deep commitment to the emotional well-being of middle and high school students, a critical demographic requiring support and guidance. By building trust with families and creating a safe, welcoming environment, she empowers students to feel valued. Whether she is counseling a student through personal struggles or leading transformative school programs, her presence is described as uplifting for the entire Master’s Academy community.

Regarding the nomination, Nancy Cook stated:

“Ms. Kimberly Gillette is not only an exceptional educator and leader, but a true LifeChanger. Her influence is lasting, her dedication is admirable, and her legacy is one of compassion, excellence, and inspiration. She embodies everything this honor represents and is profoundly deserving of recognition.”
