SpaceX Starlink Launch Saturday Night: Time and Treasure Coast Viewing

Sky-gazers and space enthusiasts in Vero Beach and across the Treasure Coast are in for a spectacular sight this weekend. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to light up the night sky on Saturday, launching from Cape Canaveral and carrying a fresh batch of Starlink internet satellites into orbit.

Given the clear sightlines from our local beaches and the scheduled evening launch window, this event promises to be highly visible from Indian River County, weather permitting.

Launch Details and Timing

The mission, identified as Starlink 6-104, will lift off from Launch Complex 40 at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The rocket will be carrying 29 Starlink broadband satellites into low-Earth orbit.

Launch Window: The window opens at 9:04 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, and extends until 1:04 a.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026.

The trajectory for this mission is southeast. For residents in Vero Beach, this means looking north-northeast along the coast should provide an excellent view of the rocket as it ascends. Since the launch is happening at night, the glowing engine plume and the contrail should be particularly striking against the dark sky. Fortunately for those sensitive to noise, no sonic booms are expected for the Space Coast or our area for this specific landing profile.

Best Local Viewing Spots in Vero Beach & Indian River County

While you can often spot these launches from your own backyard, heading to the water offers the most unobstructed views. The following local locations were specifically highlighted as prime viewing areas for this launch:

  • Sebastian Inlet State Park: Located at 9700 S. State Road A1A, viewing from the jetty or the beach offers a direct line of sight toward the Cape. (Note: State park entry fees apply).
  • Wabasso Beach Park: A popular spot for locals at 1808 Wabasso Beach Road.
  • Ambersands Beach Park: Located at 12566 N. SR A1A, this area is known for its quieter atmosphere and dark skies, perfect for night launches.
  • South Beach Park: Situated at 1700 Ocean Drive in Vero Beach, this wide stretch of sand provides plenty of room to set up a chair.
  • The Bridges: Both the Merrill Barber Bridge and the Alma Lee Loy Bridge in Vero Beach offer elevated vantage points for those who want to watch from a higher altitude.

Viewing Tips for the Treasure Coast

If you find yourself further south in St. Lucie or Martin counties, you are still in luck. The viewing is expected to be excellent from Fort Pierce Inlet State Park and Jensen Beach. Look for access points like Blind Creek Beachside or the House of Refuge in Stuart.

Be sure to check the weather before heading out. Cloud cover can obscure the view, but if the skies remain clear, this Saturday night launch will be a perfect opportunity to witness the power of spaceflight right from the comfort of the Treasure Coast.
