The equestrian community and local philanthropists gathered in Vero Beach this week for a prestigious event that combined high-goal polo with significant community impact. The 2026 Charity Polo Cup, hosted at the exclusive Windsor community, successfully raised a remarkable $417,000 in net proceeds to support three vital organizations within Indian River County.

Presented by PNC Bank and the Windsor Charitable Foundation, the event drew approximately 650 luncheon guests to the barrier island community. Organizers announced on Thursday that the substantial funds raised will be divided equally among three local nonprofits: Childcare Resources of Indian River, Crossover Mission, and the Environmental Learning Center.

“The success of the Charity Polo Cup reflects the extraordinary generosity and benevolence of the Windsor community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated and supported the event, helping us to create a memorable event for our guests, and lasting change for our nonprofit partners.” — Luke O’Boyle, General Manager at Windsor

The gathering was hosted by Galen Weston and featured a sentimental tribute to his late mother, Hilary M. Weston. The event honored her Irish-Canadian heritage and her foundational contributions to the equestrian program at Windsor. In the spirit of this tribute, the two competing teams were named the Maple Leafs and the Shamrocks.

The main match delivered high-energy excitement, concluding in a diplomatic 8-8 tie. The field featured top-tier talent, including Nina Clarkin, Lucas Criado, Martín Jáuregui, Sebastian Koga, Magoo Laprida, Santiago Llavallol, Fred Mannix, and Harrison Reicher. Fred Mannix was distinguished as the Most Valuable Player, while a 9-year-old pony named Nikki, ridden by Laprida, was awarded the honor of Best Playing Pony.

Spectators also enjoyed a junior polo match showcasing young talent from Canada and the United States, with Team Jr. USA securing the victory and Pablito Falabella taking home MVP honors.

Beyond the sport, the event featured a vibrant atmosphere with a luxury automobile parade and a highly competitive themed tailgate contest. The Space Coast Region of the Porsche Club of America displayed over 40 vehicles in a “people’s choice” concours. The creativity of the attendees was on full display during the tailgate competition:

  • First Place: “That’s Amore”
  • Second Place: “It’s a Wonderful Life”
  • Third Place: “The Love Boat”

Fundraising efforts were bolstered by a silent auction and raffle featuring luxury experiences, jewelry, and artwork. Notable items included a commemorative poster by renowned artist Derek Gores and a valuable necklace trio from Jane Win.

The proceeds will have a tangible impact on the selected beneficiaries:

  • Childcare Resources of Indian River: Provides early childhood education and wellness programs for economically challenged working families.
  • Crossover Mission: Utilizes basketball and academic mentoring to help youth ages 11-24 break the cycle of poverty.
  • Environmental Learning Center: dedicated to educating the community about environmental stewardship and nature.

Windsor, a 472-acre private residential sporting club founded in 1989, continues to be a major driver of philanthropy in the region through its charitable foundation, which focuses on education, health, animal welfare, and basic human needs.
