The Fort Pierce Yacht Club (FPYC) is celebrating a significant milestone on the Treasure Coast, marking its 45th anniversary in 2025 with a major reinvestment in the local community. Originally founded in 1980 to foster safe boating and fellowship among sailing and powerboating enthusiasts, the all-volunteer organization has evolved into a philanthropic pillar for the region. To commemorate four and a half decades of operation, the club and its charitable arm, the Fort Pierce Yacht Club Foundation, contributed over $45,000 to local causes in 2025 alone.
This latest contribution is part of a larger trend of generosity from the club’s membership. Since 2023, members have raised a combined total of $95,000 to support various local initiatives. Beyond direct financial donations, the FPYC also provided significant in-kind support to the Treasure Coast nonprofit sector. By offering reduced facility rental rates to charitable groups, the club provided an estimated $7,500 in additional community value throughout the anniversary year.
The Fort Pierce Yacht Club continues to blend boating tradition with community commitment, a combination that keeps it anchored firmly in Fort Pierce’s civic life.
Throughout 2025, the club directed its resources toward a diverse array of organizations and events that define life on the Treasure Coast. Sponsorships and support extended to:
The funds raised by the club were distributed to several key cultural and safety organizations. Beneficiaries included the Original Florida Highwaymen Museum, the Treasure Coast Youth Sailing Foundation, and the Fort Pierce Police Department (FPPD), specifically supporting their “Courageous Kids” and “Santa Cop” programs.
The FPYC clubhouse itself remains a central hub for civic engagement in the area. Throughout the year, the venue hosted “Coffee with the Mayor,” the Manatee Center’s Lunch and Learn program, the FPPD Career Expo, and summer events for the Jazz & Blues Society.
Maritime traditions also remained a priority during the anniversary year. The club hosted the 15th annual 4th of July Boat Parade and continued its role as the host for the St. Lucie County Christmas Boat Parade. Their annual “Trim a Tree” fundraiser generated $1,900 for the FPPD Christmas Toy Drive, supplemented by approximately $1,000 in donated toys.
Looking toward the future of the maritime industry, the Fort Pierce Yacht Club Foundation presented its 3rd annual “Chart Your Course: Marine & Maritime Career Expo.” This event provided students from St. Lucie Public Schools and Project LIFT with hands-on experiences alongside industry professionals, helping to inspire the next generation of Treasure Coast boaters and marine experts.
For residents across the Treasure Coast, the Fort Pierce Yacht Club’s 45th anniversary serves as a reminder of how recreational organizations can successfully pivot to become vital community partners.
