Residents across the Treasure Coast have a major reason to celebrate this year, as the popular discount grocery chain Aldi is officially expanding its footprint in Indian River County and the surrounding areas. With three new store locations slated to open in Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Micco, local shoppers will soon have convenient new options for their weekly grocery runs. The German-based retailer is strategically pushing into growing suburban markets, bringing a fresh wave of competition to established local grocery giants like Publix and Walmart.
Aldi is expanding its Treasure Coast presence with three new locations, including a highly anticipated Vero Beach store opening on March 19, 2026, and two additional spring openings in Sebastian and Micco that will replace former Winn-Dixie locations to restore vital grocery access for nearby communities.
The highly anticipated Vero Beach location is scheduled to officially open its doors to the public on March 19, 2026. Situated at 2950 9th St. S.W., the brand-new store will kick off its arrival with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony starting promptly at 8:30 a.m. Shoppers eager to get an early look can take advantage of a special Preview Day on March 18, which will allow customers to browse the aisles and shop before the official grand opening festivities.
To celebrate the Vero Beach launch, Aldi is rolling out exclusive promotions for the community:
- The first 200 shoppers in line will receive a complimentary gift bag.
- Early arrivals will also be handed a special Golden Ticket, offering a chance to win up to $100 in store credit.
Further north, residents of Sebastian and Micco are closely monitoring the progress of their own future Aldi stores. According to Chris Hewitt, the regional vice president for Aldi, both locations are firmly on track to welcome customers this spring. While exact grand opening dates for these two northern sites have not yet been finalized, Hewitt confirmed that the company will share more details and invitations to their respective ceremonies as the transition process wraps up.
The arrival of Aldi in Sebastian and Micco is particularly significant for the local community. Both of these upcoming locations are taking over buildings previously occupied by Winn-Dixie, filling a critical void in local food access. This transition is incredibly important for residents of the nearby Barefoot Bay community. Many of these locals rely heavily on street-legal golf carts to run their daily errands, making nearby, accessible grocery stores an absolute neighborhood necessity.
As part of a massive nationwide growth strategy to operate 2,500 stores by the end of next year, Aldi brings a unique, cost-saving shopping model to the Treasure Coast. To maximize operational efficiency and keep checkout prices exceptionally low, the retailer asks customers to bring their own reusable shopping bags or purchase them at the register. Additionally, shoppers must use a 25-cent deposit to unlock a grocery cart, which is fully refunded when the cart is safely returned to the corral. This streamlined, no-frills approach has fueled the brand’s rapid expansion across Florida over the last five years, bringing high-quality, budget-friendly groceries directly to local neighborhoods.
