For Treasure Coast residents who are passionate about marine conservation and cinematic storytelling, a highly anticipated event is making its way to our neighboring community of Fort Pierce. On June 6, 2026, the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute will proudly host the 2026 International Ocean Film Festival: Florida Tour.
Located just a short drive south for Vero Beach and Indian River County locals, this fourth annual festival promises an inspiring afternoon dedicated to our oceans. The event brings together a vibrant community of filmmakers, scientists, ocean enthusiasts, and families to celebrate and protect marine ecosystems through the power of visual media.
The film festival supports student success at FAU Harbor Branch, helping prepare the next generation of marine scientists, engineers, and ocean advocates.
Attendees will be treated to a carefully curated lineup of compelling independent ocean documentaries and short films from around the globe. The scheduled screenings for the afternoon include:
- The Race to 30×30 with Sylvia Earle by Andy Mann
- Changing Seas: Whales in a Plastic Ocean by Alexa Elliott
- Coral in Focus by Quentin van den Bossche
- Monterey Bay White Sharks by Kip Evans and Dr. Barbara Block
- Stone Biters: Saving the Arctic Sea Forests by Ismaele Tortella
- The Human Side of Plastic: Abby Barrows by Andrew Lynch, Ben Ayers, and Rush Sturges
- Replanting a Garden by Anthony W. Wallace
- Juan Fernández UNOC Announcement by Andy Mann
- The Bottom Line by Ben Mallaby
- Life on the Edges – Stores from the Frontlines of Climate Resilience by Andi R. Cross and Adam Moore
The experience goes well beyond the screen. During festival intermissions, guests are encouraged to interact with marine experts and university students. You can explore the Exhibitors Showcase to learn about vital local research and educational initiatives taking place right here on the Treasure Coast. Families will especially enjoy getting an up-close look at the marine mammal ambulance, participating in interactive experiences, watching live demonstrations, and, of course, enjoying classic popcorn and refreshments.
Whether you are a dedicated marine conservationist or simply looking for an educational weekend outing near Vero Beach, this event offers a profound look into the deep blue while supporting local academic endeavors. Tickets are available for $40. For more information or to secure your seats, area residents can visit the official FAU Harbor Branch Film Festival website.
