According to police reports, 25-year-old Mario Raya was operating a 2008 Honda CBR1000 when he veered off the road and collided with a concrete utility pole. Responding officers located Raya in the grassy median at the intersection of Eighth Avenue and 21st Street.

- Detectives utilized local traffic surveillance cameras to track the motorcycle’s path as it entered the Vero Beach city limits along U.S. 1.
- Footage captured the motorcycle traveling at a staggering 113 mph as it passed through the intersection of 15th Place and U.S. 1.
- The exceptionally high speed was recorded approximately half a mile from where the vehicle ultimately wrecked.
