As the new academic year quickly approaches in Indian River County, local students are getting a much-needed boost. For the tenth consecutive year, WM has partnered with the Gifford Youth Achievement Center (GYAC) to ensure children have the essential tools they need for classroom success.
During a recent community celebration, WM distributed 180 fully stocked backpacks to youth participating in the GYAC Summer Camp. The summer program is renowned locally for seamlessly blending academic enrichment with recreational activities, helping Indian River County students maintain their educational momentum during the off-season.
WM provided 180 backpacks filled with school supplies to help students start the school year prepared for success, continuing a decade-long tradition of supporting education and investing in the future of the community.
The milestone donation event also featured a special appearance by CARTer, the official recycling mascot for Indian River County. As the face of the county’s CARTer’s Corner app—a digital resource guiding residents on proper recyclable materials—the mascot engaged with campers to share important environmental and sustainability lessons.
