If you are planning a late summer getaway or coordinating holiday travel, the Vero Beach Regional Airport (VRB) continues to expand its offerings while enhancing local amenities. The beloved Indian River County hub recently completed a $1.9 million terminal makeover, drastically improving the passenger experience by adding covered passenger walkways and a brand-new outside baggage-claim area. As travelers prepare to take off this fall, there are a few significant changes to the flight routes available right in our backyard.
Vero Beach Regional Airport offers nonstop flights across six states this September, with major carriers shifting their local routes. While JetBlue has officially discontinued its nonstop flights to New York City, American Airlines is expanding its local presence with a brand-new seasonal route to Philadelphia starting this November.
Starting in February 2026, American Airlines will become the newest major carrier to service our local airport. Throughout the month of September, the airline is offering daily flights connecting Vero Beach to Charlotte, North Carolina. However, the biggest news for winter travelers is the airline’s upcoming seasonal addition. Starting November 7 and running through April 3, travelers will be able to enjoy weekly nonstop Saturday service to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. These flights will operate using narrow-body CRJ-900 regional jets branded under American Eagle.
For loyal JetBlue Airlines flyers who have utilized the carrier since December 2025, there is a notable route reduction to be aware of. The airline has officially dropped its route from Vero Beach to New York City. Moving forward, the carrier will only service a single destination from VRB: nonstop flights to Boston, Massachusetts. These flights are currently offered on select Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Fortunately, Breeze Airways, which has been flying out of Vero Beach since February 2023, continues to provide a robust schedule of affordable flights up and down the East Coast. Whether you are visiting family or planning a quick autumn escape, their September schedule includes direct access to numerous destinations:
- Hartford, Connecticut: Flights are offered on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
- Providence, Rhode Island: Flights are available on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
- New York Destinations: Service to Long Island/Islip is offered on select Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays; Ogdensburg flights run on select Thursdays and Sundays; Syracuse flights are available throughout the month; and White Plains flights are offered daily starting mid-September.
- Washington, D.C.: Flights are available on select Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
- Bristol/Johnson/Kingsport, Tennessee: Flights to the Tri-Cities Regional Airport are offered on Thursdays and Sundays.
If you are looking ahead to October, the options from the Treasure Coast will grow even further. Breeze Airways plans to launch additional flights from Vero Beach to Atlantic City, New Jersey; Baltimore/Washington, Maryland; Burlington, Vermont; and Columbus, Ohio.
To ensure a smooth departure from our newly upgraded terminal, locals are encouraged to check arrivals, departures, and any potential delays using third-party flight trackers like Flight Aware. Additionally, you can monitor TSA wait times before you even leave your home by using the MyTSA app or websites like ifly.com and flightqueue.com, which provide estimates based on airport reports. With expanding routes and a beautifully updated facility, jetting off from Vero Beach has never been more convenient.
