Big news is on the horizon for travelers, local businesses, and baseball families visiting Vero Beach. The Vero Beach City Council has officially given the green light to a major new development that will reshape the hospitality landscape near our local transit hub. A brand-new Marriott hotel is slated to be built right at the Vero Beach Regional Airport, promising enhanced convenience for flyers and a significant boost to the local economy.

The Vero Beach City Council has approved a lease agreement to construct a four-story, 116-room Marriott hotel located on Aviation Boulevard, situated immediately outside the terminal gates of the Vero Beach Regional Airport. Groundbreaking is scheduled for next year, with an expected completion date by the end of 2028.

For the past three years, local officials have been in careful negotiations to bring this transformative project to life. According to Brian Dembeck, the interim airport director, the primary goal of this new accommodation is to dramatically improve the passenger experience. With a hotel located steps away from the terminal, travelers will have the unprecedented convenience of resting comfortably before simply walking straight over to catch their flights.

However, this exciting addition is catering to much more than just airline passengers. The project is expected to have a significant ripple effect across the Indian River County business landscape. Brian Cartland, vice-president of economic development for the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce, noted that adding high-end lodging alternatives is a crucial step in attracting new businesses and supporting target industry growth throughout the Treasure Coast region.

Another major driving force behind the hotel’s strategic location is its proximity to the iconic Jackie Robinson Training Complex. Chad Maxey, senior vice president of Diversified Companies—the developer leading the project—emphasized that the new lodging will heavily serve the influx of youth athletes and their families traveling to Vero Beach for ongoing baseball tournaments.

Here are a few key details residents and future visitors can expect from the upcoming development:

  • Prime Location: Situated seamlessly along Aviation Boulevard, providing immediate, walkable access to the airport terminal.
  • Size and Brand: A modern, four-story property featuring 116 rooms under the globally recognized Marriott brand.
  • Family-Friendly Amenities: The hotel will boast a unique “homerun dugout amenity,” allowing kids to play virtual baseball right inside the hotel before heading down the street to play on the actual diamond.
  • Projected Timeline: Developers are set to break ground next year, with the grand opening planned for late 2028.

As Vero Beach continues to see a steady increase in commercial flight availability and regional growth, this upcoming Marriott property stands out as a highly anticipated upgrade. By bridging the gap between convenient travel, business development, and local sports tourism, this hospitality project is poised to be a major asset to the immediate Indian River County community for decades to come.
