Indian River County Sheriff’s Deputies Investigate Morning Shooting Near Vero Beach
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a suspect following a morning shooting at a local apartment complex located just north of the Vero Beach city limits. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, reportedly stemmed from a disturbance in the parking lot, though authorities have confirmed that no injuries were reported.
Law enforcement officials responded to the Orchard Grove apartment complex, situated in the 1800 block of Woodland Circle, at approximately 9:42 a.m. According to Lt. Kevin Jaworski, a spokesperson for the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses at the scene recounted hearing a heated argument right before the gunfire erupted. Residents estimated hearing roughly eight gunshots during the altercation.
“Several individuals were seen fleeing the area,” Jaworski stated regarding the immediate aftermath of the incident.
While no one was harmed, the gunfire did cause property damage. A grey Chevrolet Malibu parked in the vicinity was caught in the crossfire, sustaining bullet damage to both its driver’s seat and rear window. Crime scene detectives are currently combing the property to collect evidence and are actively seeking any neighborhood surveillance footage that may shed light on the identities of those involved.
The sheriff’s office has emphasized that the situation remains an ongoing inquiry.
“The investigation is active, and no arrests have been made at this time,” Jaworski noted.
