Piper Aircraft has officially announced a major expansion to its headquarters in Vero Beach, Florida, bringing a new state-of-the-art, factory-supported service center to the Treasure Coast. The significant development will focus on comprehensive aircraft maintenance and new deliveries, servicing a wide clientele across the Eastern United States, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America.
The upcoming expansion will be situated on the company’s existing 30-acre manufacturing campus in Indian River County. The project features substantial physical upgrades designed to enhance customer experience and operational capacity, including:
- Over 33,000 square feet of dedicated indoor space for maintenance operations, preowned and new aircraft deliveries, offices, and modern customer lounges.
- An additional 11,000 square feet of outdoor service area.
- Seven specialized indoor aircraft bays and four outdoor bays.
Slated to break ground later this year, the new facility is expected to officially open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2027. This strategic timeline aligns perfectly with the 90th anniversary of Piper Aircraft in the aviation industry. Importantly for the local Vero Beach economy, the expansion is projected to generate at least 20 new high-skilled jobs. These new positions will include aviation technicians, A&P mechanics, and various support staff roles, further cementing the company’s status as the largest private employer in Indian River County.
Company leadership emphasized the strategic value of keeping operations rooted locally rather than relocating to more crowded metropolitan hubs.
“Vero Beach is an excellent location for a state-of-the-art general aviation service center because it sits on a high-quality regional airport with heavy-jet capability and a strong existing aviation infrastructure, allowing us to provide top-tier service while avoiding the congestion and costs of South Florida’s major hubs,” stated John Calcagno, President and CEO of Piper Aircraft.
According to Ron Gunnarson, vice president of sales, marketing, customer support, and quality, the new Vero Beach service center will primarily support the manufacturer’s rapidly growing M-Class fleet. The facility aims to elevate the overall aircraft ownership experience by providing unprecedented, factory-backed specialized services. Operations at the new center will range from routine annual inspections to heavy maintenance and unique, one-off factory repairs.
Operating entirely out of Vero Beach, Piper Aircraft remains a cornerstone of the local manufacturing sector, producing a highly regarded line of single- and twin-engine aircraft, which includes the M-Class series, Archer models, and various world-class trainer aircraft.
