As summer reaches its peak on the Treasure Coast, spending time at our beautiful local beaches, pools, and water parks becomes a daily routine. With this increased time in the water comes a crucial reminder for all Indian River County families: water safety saves lives. To help keep our community safe, Indian River County is offering free swimming lessons this Thursday, June 25, as part of an exciting global initiative.
According to the CDC, drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4, making swim lessons and water awareness more important than ever.
In an effort to combat these tragic statistics and equip children with vital lifesaving skills, Indian River County is proudly participating in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson. Not only will attendees receive highly valuable instruction, but they will also be part of an official attempt to break a world record alongside other communities across the globe.
These complimentary sessions are designed specifically to build early confidence in young swimmers, with the target audience being children between the ages of 3 to 10 years old. Local instructors will focus on teaching essential basic water survival skills.
