Treasure Coast residents have yet another exciting travel option right in their own backyard. Breeze Airways has announced a further expansion of its flight offerings out of the Vero Beach Regional Airport, continuing its rapid growth in Indian River County. Effective October 1, the airline will introduce a brand-new, non-stop service connecting Vero Beach directly to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The new route is scheduled to operate three days a week—Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—making it a highly convenient option for both leisure and business travelers heading to or from the Northeast. To celebrate the launch, Breeze is offering attractive introductory fares starting at just $89 each way.
With the introduction of the Pittsburgh route, Breeze Airways continues its strategic expansion at the Vero Beach Regional Airport, elevating its local service to eight nonstop flights and 10 total destinations since beginning operations in February 2023.
According to Breeze spokesperson Ryne Williams, the airline recognizes its high brand awareness on the Treasure Coast and is eager to expand its footprint. Noting that the airline considers itself to be the hometown carrier of Vero Beach, Williams emphasized that local travelers have embraced their service. Lukas Johnson, Breeze Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, echoed this sentiment, pointing out the Vero Beach area’s immense potential for continued growth.
Breeze Airways is rapidly expanding its direct and one-stop routes from the Treasure Coast. The robust current and upcoming destination list now includes:
- Hartford, Connecticut
- Islip, New York
- Newburgh, New York
- New Haven, Connecticut
- Ogdensburg, New York
- Providence, Rhode Island
- White Plains, New York
- Washington, D.C.
- Raleigh, North Carolina (launching this month)
- Provo/Salt Lake City, Utah (launching September 30, requiring a brief stop in either Raleigh-Durham or Dulles with no change of planes required)
This route expansion by Breeze Airways is part of a broader, transformative era for the Vero Beach Regional Airport, which is experiencing an unprecedented boom in commercial aviation. On December 11, the airport officially welcomed its second commercial airline, JetBlue, offering daily non-stop flights to Boston Logan International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The local aviation momentum continued into February, with the arrival of a third major carrier, American Airlines, which introduced direct service to the bustling Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina.
For Indian River County locals, this surge in commercial flight availability means unparalleled convenience. The ongoing enhancements at the airport are rapidly positioning Vero Beach as a highly competitive travel hub for the entire Treasure Coast, allowing residents to bypass the heavy traffic and long drives traditionally required to reach larger international airports.
